DHARAMSHALA, Oct. 13: The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama returned to Dharamshala on Thursday after concluding his routine health check-up in Delhi.

“Other than the seasonal flu which His Holiness is well recovering from, there are no major health concerns reported in the medical test result,” Dr Tsetan Dorjee, personal physician of the Dalai Lama told the media. He urged the Tibetans and well-wishers across the world not to worry concerning the health of His Holiness.

A persistent cold saw the octogenarian leader withdraw from the initial part of a teaching in Dharamshala earlier this month. Over the course of the next few months, the foremost Buddhist leader is scheduled to visit Karnataka, Bihar and Sikkim.

However, his scheduled visit to Sikkim has been postponed indefinitely. A statement from His Holiness’s office on 8th October stated “In view of the recent disaster in Sikkim caused by floods and the ongoing focus of the state machinery on relief efforts, the planned visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Gangtok and Salugara scheduled from October 16 to 22 has been postponed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Our prayers are with the people and state of Sikkim.”

The Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) on October 11, Wednesday stated that the death toll in the Sikkim flash flood has increased to 37, while 78 people remain missing six days after the deluge was triggered by a cloudburst.
