DHARAMSHALA, Apr. 28: The global Covid-19 pandemic that originated in Wuhan, China has become a “Trojan horse” to “global hegemony” for the Chinese government, the Secretary for the exile Tibetan government’s information and international relation wing, Tsewang Gyalpo Arya said Monday.

“Even after all the chaos and pandemic it has created, China is trying to come out as a winner and take advantage of the devastation it has engineered. Trade and economy, and stock markets have plummeted, but China is on buying spree! What does all these say about China?” Arya wrote in an op-ed published on the Central Tibetan Administration run Tibet.net.

The Secretary said that as countries around the world are recovering from the pandemic, China has wasted no time in pushing its will by arresting prominent democratic advocates in Hong Kong, threatened to bomb Taiwan, send warships into neighbouring seas while Chinese cartographers are busy altering the map of Indian frontiers. “This Coronavirus pandemic has revealed how dangerous the Chinese dictatorial regime could be if left unchallenged. It exposed the true nature of the Chinese communist party and how it is a threat to global peace, stability and democracy,” he wrote.

The senior CTA official also called for the international community to hold China to task for its role in suppressing crucial information and mishandling the pandemic when it was discovered in the country. He wrote, “The international community must take this opportunity and rise up together to free the world from the tyranny and the shackles of the communist dictatorship, and usher in a new global order of peace, justice and democracy.  Whatever the cause of the virus, China used it as its Trojan horse to global hegemony. We all must work in unity to make China accountable for this grave conspiracy and crime against humanity.”

The Chinese government which has portrayed a defiant stance against international outcry for its role and conduct during the pandemic is not without backlash. Japan among other countries have diverted businesses outside China while countries such as Germany has rejected Beijing’s insistence to speak out in favour of China’s response to the pandemic.

As of Tuesday, there are 3,074,948 positive cases and 213,273 deaths globally with the United States hit the hardest, according to the data by Johns Hopkins University’s Coronavirus resource center.

  1. Today the world sees the true color of China and its evil design to dominate the world. China’s response to the current situation is making the world nervous and fearful of the regime who not only wanted to rule the country with 1.4 billion population with an iron fist, but also has the territorial and business interest in imposing its policy globally. The world is shaken by China’s lack of transparency and honest sharing of information after the outbreak of this pandemic. The current situation of lockdown and endless pain and suffering generated by this pandemic is mainly due to China’s unwillingness to share the truth about this virus. China owes an explanation to the world, and cannot wash its hands and as pretending to be a victim after infecting millions of people all over the world.
China continues to bully its neighbors, even when other nations are fighting to contain this virus from spreading to their general population. The entire world knows how China is taking the undue advantage of this situation for its own benefit, at a time when other nations are forced to lockdown all normal activities.

  2. So stop buying “Made in China” goods including electronics. That is decision-making that every person is capable of exercising. Talk is cheap, action matters.

    1. we don’t want Chinese economy to hit rock bottom we want our countries freedom or at-least authority over our nation

      1. Wouldn’t authority over nation work better to implement within the system? Tibet is rich in natural resources, why not send more Tibetan politicians to Beijing to look out for the interests of the people. I would assume that this is not just a Tibet issue, but also applicable to minority populations in XinJiang, Qinghai and Yunnan? The Chinese political system seems to give more weight to population centers in the Eastern part of the country. To change that requires action within the country. Tibet and China co-existed for many centuries. Address what has changed in the recent past.
Between consumer cultures all over the world stocked with “Made in China” labels, the Chinese are hardly at risk of hitting economic rock bottom that rapidly.
