Core Group for Tibetan Cause and Anterrashtriya Bharat-Tibat Sahyog Samiti Observe World Human Rights Day

Anterrashtriya Bharat-Tibat Sahyog Samiti Meerut along with Core Group for Tibetan Cause observed the World Human Right Day by organizing a meeting on December 10, 2003 at Sanatan Dharam Inter College, Meerut, which was attended by enmass Indian intellectuals and Tibetans alike.

Chief Guest Mr. Pema Jungney (Chairman, Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies). Prof. Z.H.Jaydee (Vice-Chancellor of Ruhealkhand University, Baelly) Mrs. Shakuntala 97 years old Freedom Fighter chair the meeting, Mr.K.B.Bakshi (National Co-convener, Core Group and President Anterrashtriya Bharat-Tibat Sahyog Samiti) and Mr. Om Pal Singh (Principal S.D.Inter College) were the eminent personalities present.

The meeting began with the patriotic song “Vandematram” by a student of the inter college. Prof. Z.H.Jaydee lit the lamp to begin the function. Mr. Om Pal in his inaugural speech, stressed the need to awareness about the cause of Tibet among the teachers and students of various schools and colleges of the region. This would lead to a general consensus to pressure politicians to raise the cause of Tibet against China. He said that Tibet should get freedom at any cost.

Mr. K.B.Bakshi pledged to organize more meetings among the school and college students. He stressed the need to teach the present generation about Tibet, in which he held great hopes. He said that Tibet’s freedom is India’s security.

Prof. Z.H.Jaydee said Tibet, who had adopted Buddhism from India was now seeking our help to preserve it. He said that he agree with Mr. Pema Jungney that use of violence was attracting more attention which in turn was being inflamed by the media. in his opinion, it was wrong.

Mr. Pema Jungney said that for Tibet’s freedom India should pressure China. If India helped Tibet than whole world would unite. India should come to the forefront and lead the path of the future. He said, “ He has no hope in the United Nations because it is led by a few of the powerful countries, who initiate terrorism in this world. Instead, it should be democratically elected body”. He further said, “if we want to eradicate violence, then we should neglect these violent acts by publishing it in the media and making it a bigger issue”.

Mrs. Shakuntala hoped that we would overcome the hurdle one day even if it took some time to achieve it. But we definitely achieve it some day.

India Tibet Coordination Office distributed hundreds of reading materials on Tibet to all the Indian people present in the meeting.
