DHARAMSHALA, Sept. 12: The 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, during the second day of its 2025 general session, unanimously passed a five-point official resolution expressing profound gratitude to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The resolution was introduced by Parliamentarian Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten and supported by Parliamentarian Geshe Atong Rinchen Gyaltsen.
The resolution expressed heartfelt gratitude to the exiled spiritual leader for reaffirming his commitment to live beyond 130 years, noting prophecies and auspicious conditions that point toward his long and stable life. Parliamentarians urged Tibetans everywhere to collectively pray for His Holiness’s continued health and longevity, recognizing his indispensable leadership for Tibet, Tibetan Buddhism, and global peace.
Acknowledging the nonagenarian leader’s assumption of both political and spiritual responsibilities at the age of 16, the resolution lauded his lifelong efforts in guiding the Tibetan people through one of the most challenging periods in their history. It expressed gratitude for his steadfast leadership in uniting Tibetans from the three provinces into a resilient community in exile, grounding the Tibetan struggle firmly in the principles of non-violence and peace, and ensuring the survival and flourishing of Tibet’s religion, culture, language, and identity despite China’s persistent efforts at eradication.
The resolution highlighted the Nobel Laureate’s unique achievements, including the adoption of the four commitments, promotion of inter-religious harmony, and restoration of Tibetan Buddhist institutions in exile. It noted how, under his guidance, Tibetan Buddhism has gained global recognition, drawing interest from scientists and secular thinkers who now engage with its philosophical principles of compassion and ethical living.
Parliamentarians further expressed deep appreciation for His Holiness’s assurances on the continuity of the Dalai Lama institution, firmly rejecting any politically motivated interference by the Chinese government in the reincarnation process.
The resolution also emphasised his global stature as a messenger of peace, compassion, and non-violence, whose moral leadership has brought the Tibetan struggle international recognition and inspired countless people worldwide.
The five-point resolution was passed unanimously, with all lawmakers extending collective gratitude and prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
