DHARAMSHALA, Oct 23: Rinchen Griffithsgolha, a Tibetan mixed martial artist hailing from London, emerged victorious on October 22, 2023, securing the Bloodline Fight Series amateur flyweight belt. This remarkable victory marks his third win of the year and adds to his collection of two amateur championship belts.
He beat Adrian Gore who stepped up on short notice for the 59 kg amateur title on Sunday, to clinch his second amateur title.
Rinchen Griffithsgolha, who proudly represents his multicultural heritage with a Tibetan father from Kham and a mother of mixed heritage, has consistently showcased his talent in the world of mixed martial arts. He has embraced his roots and made his heritage a central part of his identity, displaying the Tibetan flag during his bouts.
In his last interview with Phayul, Rinchen reflected on his challenging journey through the world of MMA. He shared, “My journey through MMA has been quite difficult. I have had many injuries over my time training and also taken many losses in my career, but I have improved fight to fight.”
Rinchen while espousing his goal to turn professional in the near future said, “My aspirations are to eventually become a professional and represent Tibet and hold the Tibetan flag high on a professional stage.”
Tibetan MMA and martial arts fighters have begun to make their presence felt in international promotions, with fighters like UFC fly weight fighter Sonam Dhargye (Ch. Su Madaerji) and One Championship straw weight fighter Pema Dorjee (Ch. Banma Douji).
