DHARAMSHALA, February 14: Deputy Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in Exile Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok today launched a book of interviews with Tibetan women writers in exile and their works.
Titled ‘Tibetan Women Writers’, Editor of the book Chonyi Sangpo at a launch event in Dharamshala expressed hopes the book would serve as a good reference to aspiring Tibetan women writers and also encourage them to write.
“We also hope that the book will encourage the future generation of Tibetan women to write,” said the editor of the book that contains interviews of 33 Tibetan women writers including published authors, journalists and keen readers of Tibetan literature.
Since the interviewees reside and work in various parts of the world, the editor is confident that the book presents different views on standard of Tibetan women writers compared to others.
“A book should never lose its relevance and since this book is on Tibet women writers, it is even rarer. So I wish the book a good success and hope it reaches its intended targets,” said the deputy speaker.
“I buy books not just to read it once, rather use them as reference point for future endeavors. I hope that this book will serve as a reference point to Tibetan Women’s Association or activities related to Tibetan women,” said Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok.
Published by Tibet Post International, the book took over a year to complete.
