DHARAMSHALA, November 28 – A Tibetan MP from Domey constituency, Kirti Dolkar Lhamo has resigned, the Tibetan parliamentary secretariat announced Wednesday. Dolkar is the former president of the Tibetan Women’s Association.

Dolkar, who was elected to the Tibetan Parliament five times since 1991, has cited “personal reasons” for her resignation from the membership of the 15th Tibetan Parliament in exile.

“She has further expressed her best wishes to the Tibetan Parliament in its future endeavours, urging the MPs to continue their hard work and dedication to resolve the issue of Tibet,” said a statement from the Tibetan Parliamentary Secretariat.

According to the Election Commission of the Tibetan exile government, there was no one in waiting list of Domey constituency who qualifies with the required 33% percent of votes cast as per the electoral guidelines. A bi-election for a new member from Domey will have to be held.

Earlier in 2011, Tsering Youdon who had secured 33% of votes cast was promoted to replace a deceased MP from Domey.
