TCC delegation in Europe

Dharamsala, November 22: A delegation of Tibetan Chamber of Commerce (TCC) currently on its first European tour met with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels Thursday to build networks, partnerships and exchange views and knowledge with businesses and institutions.

The delegation was joined by Tashi Wangi, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s official representative in Europe, Humbert De Broilley, Deputy Director of Council of Europe and Belgiun member of Parliament Juliette Boulet.

The delegation representing Tibetan origin businesses from India, Nepal, North were America and Europe was welcomed by EESC on “pushing an open door” as the EU wanted to help the Tibetans.

The Committee expressed its willingness to “support the capacity building of the Tibetan Chamber of Commerce and the cohesive structure of the civil society of the Tibetan community in exile.” said President of the Employers Group of the EESC, Mr Henri Malosse.

The two teams discussed on how to conduct business with ethics, human rights and sustainability, along the creation of creation of profit.

EESC also supported the knowledge sharing and transfer of wisdom between the Tibetan Chamber of Commerce and European business organisations by hosting a range of workshops during their discussions.

“The mission has been so successful that follow up meetings are already being prepared.” said Mr Sonam Topygal, President of the TCC.

The delegation will travel next to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Geneva.

In 2001, the TCC was established as an initiative of the Tibetan Government in Exile for the development of business interests of the Chamber’s members, the Tibetans, people of Himalayan region and general Tibetan community as a whole.

The TCC is a voluntary association of Tibetan businessmen, independent from the Tibetan Government in Exile.
