Dharamsala, April 13 – 6 Tibetan monks of Lutsang monastery and two others were released a few days ago, according to the Voice of Tibet radio service. Jamyang Sherab, Jamyang Ngodup, Jamyang Khenrab, Lungtok, Thabkhey Gyatso and Kunsang were not among the 106 other monks who were released on March 20.
109 monks of Lutsang monastery were arrested earlier in February for carrying out a peaceful protest march from Lamo Yongzin Phodrang (spelled as pronounced) to the Mangra county government headquarters on the first day of the Tibetan New Year. The monks had been kept in a school where they were subjected to severe patriotic reeducation until their release on March 20, sources said.
Two other Tibetans, Tashi Dhondup, aged 27, an official in the Chinese government and his younger brother, Jinpa Gyatso, aged 25 were released.
Tashi was arrested from his home in Sumdo township on March 12, two days after the 50th Tibetan national uprising day. His laptop and cellphone were confiscated. His brother was arrested from Xining where he was studying.
