Dharamsala March 12 – A Tibetan man named Lobsang Wangchuk was beaten up severely before being arrested on March 10 in Lithang, according to a report by Radio Free Asia.

A monk of Sera monastery in south India has told RFA that Lobsang initiated a protest demonstration all by himself, calling for ‘long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’ and ‘independence for Tibet’ before being arrested by Chinese authorities.

The lone Tibetan protestor was immediately nabbed by the security forces and beaten up mercilessly, according to the same source.

China has beefed up its hold on Tibet with strong military presence in Tibetan inhabited areas, which have been restive in the past. Lithang county alone has 25000 troops stationed, according to the same source.
