BEIJING – Fire broke out on Thursday at a hotel near Tibet’s holiest Buddhist temple in the capital, Lhasa, Chinese state media reported.
Thick smoke was seen at the Jingu Hotel 500 metres from the Jokhang temple in the heart of the city, the official Xinhua news agency said.
It said no casualties were reported.
The Jokhang temple was closed for two months this year after initially peaceful protests by Buddhist monks against Chinese rule turned violent in March.
