Srongtsen School exults in its batch’s outstanding performance

Kathmandu, July 23: Shree Songtsen Brikuti High School’s class Ten Batch achieved 100% pass result in this year’s School Leaving Certificate examination (Class Ten Nepal Board Examination), the results of which were announced recently.

Of the 51 students who sat for the exams, one student set distinction marks, 40 were placed first division and remaining 10 secured second division marks.

A special graduation ceremony for the outgoing class ten students was held here at the school where staff members, students, parents, ex-students and numerous Tibetan officials took part in it.

Mr Tsering Topgyal, secretary of the Snow Lion Foundation and Mr Khamsum Wangdu, Parents’ representative, in their addresses congratulated the class of 2007 and the school for the outstanding academic achievement.

Dolkar Lhamo, an outgoing class X student spoke for her class and thanked the whole school team for support, guidance and for all the memorable times they had had in the school.

Phurba Gurung with 83% result topped the batch and also scored highest in the separate Tibetan subject exam. He was born in Dolpo District of Nepal to Dolpali parents.

Chief guest Mrs. Dolma Tsomo, member of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile gave away the certificates and felicitated them with ceremonial scarves and gifts. In her address, while congratulating the success result of the students, she noted that hard work of the teachers is the key to success.

She stressed on and encouraged the outgoing students to take keen focus on specialised courses in their respective field of interest and further studies rather than merely acquiring regular college degrees. She personally appealed young students to maintain and improve the characteristic values of Tibetan people. She urged parents to be supportive of their children’s academic interests and guide them towards their excellence.

Enthralled by this year’s result, the school Principal Ven. Jampa Phuntsok said, “we shall continue our hark work towards achieving similar result next year also.” He used the platform to urge Tibetan authorities to come up with a special hostel for Tibetan college students in Nepal, which he believes will create an environment for them to uphold Tibetan values as they continue with their higher studies under one residential roof.

Namgyal Higher Secondary School, another prominent Tibetan school in the Kathmandu valley, also achieved 100% pass result in the recently held class X Board exam this year.
