Tibetan Community in Italy commemorated 10 March in Rome

Tibetan Community with Tibetan Women Association in Italy and Friends of Tibet staged a sit-in protest in occassion of 48th anniversery of 10 March here in Rome. Tibetans showed up in their colourful traditional dress and some Italians supporters were also present.

The Protest started with reading out of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 10 March statement followed by one minute silence in remembrance of those couragous Tibetan who has sacrificed their life and those who are still lingering under the Chinese oppression.

The sit-in protest was held in one of the important square in Rome city where many people flocks every moment of the day. In fact the protest drew quite a number of tourist for whom phamplets explaining the true situation of Tibet were distributed. Tibetans also made a slogan remembering the world community at large to really take up the Tibetan issue seriously. It ended with recitation of denzig monlam and Tibetan national Anthem.

After the sit-in protest in the square it was followed by round table conference titled “Tibet: Not To Forget” at Palazzo Dello Memoria which is the head quarter of ANPI.( Association Nazionale Patrigane).The hall was packed with audience and few even had to sit on the floor. The conference was moderated by Paolo Masini, Vice president of Culture Commissioner of Rome and the speakers were Massimo Rendina, President ANPI, Marialaura Di Mattia, Indo-tibetologa, Associazione Amici del Tibet,Decen Dolkar, Rappresentante dell’ Associazione Donne Tibetane in Italia, Amnesty International Thupten Tenzin, Presidente Comunita Tibetana in Italia and Bruno Mellano, Intergruppo per il Tibet al Parlamento Italiano.
