Peaceful procession on Tibetan women’s uprising day

Regional Tibetan Association Bylakuppe and Hunsur led a peaceful procession from Mysore to commemorate the 48th anniversary of Tibetan women’s national uprising day against the illegal invasion of our mother land by communist China in 1959.

About 300 members of the Tibetan Women’s Association from Bylakuppe and hunsur took part in the procession. The program commenced at 10am with speeches by Mrs. Samten Chodon RTWA Bylakuppe and ex president of RTWA Bylakuppe Mrs. Dolma Yangchen.

Ama Tsewang Palmo of New Camp no.7 addressed the gathering on the history of this day and recalled how this Tibetan women uprising day in Lhasa took place.

The procession began at 10.30 am from Mysore town hall and passing through the old statue, K.R circle, Devaraj urs road and finaly culminated at D.C office.

Tibetan women association submitted a memorandum to the Secretary General, UNO through DC office.

In the memorandum, they have mention about the condemnations against the illegal and barbaric occupation of Tibet by the communist China in 1959, worst violation of human rights, destruction of Tibet fragile environment, sinosisetion of Tibet and economic marginalisation, the recent cold blooded killing at Nangpa la pass and Quinghai – Lhasa railway line.

The major concern is the plight of political prisoners and their whereabouts. Particularly twelve years after his abduction by Chinese authorities, the whereabouts of 11th Panchen Lama is still a mystery.

After submitting the memorandum the peace proccession was led back to the town hall through Metropole, Shivarampet and K.R circle.
