RTYC Delhi Staged Protest Against Visiting Chinese Leader

New Delhi, August 18 – On 17 August 2006, the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of Delhi staged a successful protest outside the ministry building chanting slogans against the Chinese occupation of Tibet when Mr Hua Fuzhou, the Vice Minister of Labour of PRC visited India for a meeting with his Indian counterpart in New Delhi.

The meeting took place at the Shram Shakti Bhavan on Parliament Street. The members of the RTYC shouted slogans against the newly-built Golmud-Lhasa railway and voiced protest against the Chinese for calling His Holiness the Dalai Lama ‘a splittist.’ The protestors mainly included Tibetan students from various colleges in Delhi.

Mr Dhondup Dorjee, the Information Officer of TYC, along with protestors were detained by the police.
