TPPRC Prepares Tibetan Youth for Future Leadership and Responsibilities

Dharamshala, June 23: Around 51 Tibetan students from 13 different universities across India have come together to participate in a 10-day youth leadership workshop here, which began yesterday.

During the course of workshop the participants will hear from Kalon Tripa on status of the Sino-Tibetan dialogue process and the policies of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). They will be familiarising with the policies of the seven departments of the CTA from the respective Kalons of the departments.

The chairman of the Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies (ATPD) Mr. Karma Choephel will brief them on the evolution of the Tibetan democracy and proceedings of the ATPD.

The participants will hear from Geshe Lhakdor, Director of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, on the various religious traditions and the essence of the Buddhism.

There are panel discussions on the importance of students’ participation in election and their responsibilities towards the issue of Tibet with panel of experts as well.

Besides the participants will get opportunity to visit the Tibet Museum, different non-governmental organisations and departments of the CTA.

Hosted by the Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre (TPPRC) in New Delhi, the workshop aims to make the Tibetan youth aware of and appreciate the principles of democracy and to introduce them to future responsibilities and leadership.
