Tibet’s Solar Energy PV Generation Ranked First in China

TIBET, April 25 – Presently, the capacity of Tibet’s various photoelectric equipments and facility nearly reaches 9,000 KWs and the installed capacity of its solar energy photovoltaic (PV) electricity generation is ranked first in China.

This information is revealed by the director of Science and Technology Department of Tibetan Autonomous Region Duojiciren.

He said that Tibet began to focus on the promotion of solar energy production and had launched several PV electricity generation projects in recent years.

Till now, Tibet has established over 300 PV electricity generation stations with capacities ranging from 3 to 5 KWs. Lhasa has also established solar photoelectric stations with capacities ranging from 10 to 100 KWs in its 7 neighboring counties and promoted small size independent PV electricity generation systems with a capacity of totaled 5,400 KWs.

Tibet is rich in solar energy and has advantages and experiences in the PV products manufacturing. But the present PV products manufacturers lacks in advanced technology and equipments. Experts advised that government should put more efforts on supporting the development of these PV products enterprises.
