Dalai Lama Begins South America Tour

The Dalai Lama departs the United States for Brazil today on the first leg of his five nation tour of South America that will also take him to Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia. He is scheduled to give a series of teachings and public talks during this trip. More information on the schedule can be had from www.dalailama.com or www.tibetoffice.org.

During his stay in the United States this time, the Dalai Lama underwent a medical checkup at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and was found to be in good health. A spokesman of the Clinic said, “He has completed his routine medical exam and has been found to be in good health.”

The Dalai Lama has finished his medical checkup at Mayo Clinic.

“He has completed his routine medical exam and has been found to be in good health,” said Mayo spokesman Lee Aase.

The exiled spiritual and political leader of Tibet spoke to Mayo staff during a presentation Monday, shortly after medical appointments that morning. He continued medical checks Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.

Aase said the Dalai Lama has left Rochester.
