Tibet Groups Formed in South Africa, Awaits Inauguration

Bangalore February 4 – A new Inter Parliamentary Group (SAIPGT)for Tibet will be formed soon in South Africa. The new group will be inaugurated on the evening of February 7 at the Parliament in Cape Town.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ian Macfarlane, an old friend of Tibet wanted to start a new Tibet Support Group based in Cape Town. Called “Tibet-Africa Rainbow Alliance” (TARA) the Tibet Support Group will be officially launched on February 6, the Cape Town Medi-spa.

Chitue Dawa Phunkyi, a member of the Tibetan Parliament (Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies) who is on an official tour to South Africa will inaugurate the two new groups for Tibet.

The Tibetan legislators will meet people like Mr. Tony Leon, leader of Democratic Alliance (DA – the opposition party of the South African Parliament), Mr. Gareth Morgan, DA MP- coordinator of SAIPGT. Dawa may also call on Prince M G Buthelezi, President of Inthaka Freedom Party (IFP).

During the inauguration of SAIPGT, 25 parliamentarians mostly from DA & IFP will take part.

Dawa Phunkyi, is visiting South Africa as a representative of the ATPD.
