Moscow Commemoration of the 14th Anniversary of the Award of Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Moscow, December 10 – Tibet Culture & Information Centre in Moscow organised the 14th anniversary celebration of awarding THE Nobel Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The celebration was held this evening at the Academician Andrey Sakharov Memorial Museum in central Moscow. It was attended by more 70 persons mainly Buddhists and friends of Tibet.

The function began with offering butter lamps and scarves to the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and singing of the prayer Dentsig Monlam (Worlds of Truth) by the Tibetan community members living in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Mr. Tashi, Representative of H. H. the Dalai Lama in his welcome speech stressed on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s philosophy of resolving conflicts and differences through dialogue, tolerance, compromise and mutual understanding. He also explained the current situation in Tibet and the Central Tibetan Administration’s stand in resolving the Tibet issue with the People’s Republic of China.

This was followed by a speech by Mr.Edward Balashov, Chairman of Moscow Regional Tibet Support Group. He spoke of full admiration to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s untiring effort to promote peace in the world.

A documentary film on Tibet and Tibetans was also shown thereafter.
