Last year South Africans were blessed to witness the building of the uniquely beautiful and intricate Sand Mandala by four Tibetan monks.

Prior to the World Summit on Sustainability and Development Conference that took place in Gauteng the Sand Mandala was constructed at the Killarney Mall.

This month the exhibition of the Sand Mandala at the Killarney Mall won the Gold Award at the 8th Annual Council of SA Shopping Centres congress, which took place in Cape Town.

Alvine Macaskill public relations officer for the Killarney Mall said, ” it was a surprise and privilege to win such a prestigious award”. In accepting the award at the ceremony that attracted over 750 people she stated, “it was the monks and their dedication who were responsible for creating the magic and beauty of the Sand Mandala.”
