DHARAMSALA, September 11 – The Tibetan-government-in-exile, based in the northern Indian hill station of Dharamsala, Thursday said the murdered Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh was a champion of human rights.

“We will remain greatly encouraged by the outspoken concern expressed by Lindh on the current states of human rights in Tibet,” the self-styled Tibetan prime minister Samdhong Rinpoche wrote in a letter to the Swedish government.

“The six million people of Tibet cherish the support received from your government. I wish to also convey our deepest condolences to the family members of Anna Lindh,” Rinpoche said.

Lindh died Thursday in a Stockholm hospital, a day after she was stabbed in a department store by an unknown assailant.
