The search for new and interesting natural fibres has zoned in on the Tibetan yak, which features in a new sweater collection from UK sportswear specialist William Evans.

The range uses the fine guard hair which grows in the area beneath the animal’s chin. “This is as soft to the touch as cashmere, but unlike cashmere when made into garments is tough enough to survive a trip through the washing machine,” the company sayd.

The collection is going to UK shops immediately, and will ultimately be available to export markets. Suggested retail prices for sweaters start at around £135.
