On the 6th July, across the globe and in South Africa supporters of the Tibetan non – violent freedom struggle will be celebrating the 68th birthday of the Dalai Lama, Tibet’s spiritual and temporal leader.

As World Tibet Day coincides with the Dalai Lama’s birthday, his 44th year spent in exile, mantras for his long life will be said alongside calls for the international community to take the plight of the Tibetan people seriously.

The Dalai Lama continues to work tirelessly and unselfishly to reshape attitudes for a better global society by promoting basic human values, kindness and compassion, and the importance of understanding our common humanity as a basis for dialogue in the resolution of personal and political conflicts.

Let us all, in return, show humanity towards him, his people and his country as they continue to suffer under China’s inhumane policies inside Chinese-occupied Tibet.
