To,

His Excellency,

Prime Minister of India

Dated: 17/6/2003

Respected Your Excellency,

On behalf of all Tibetan people, the National Democratic Party of Tibet would wholeheartedly be grateful to the People and the Government of India for their sympathetic and generous support Tibetan people since 1959. We are also thankful to Your Excellency, the Prime Minister of India Shri. Atal Behari Vajpayee for your support and raising the Tibet’s issue several times from 1959 to 1964 in Lower House, and from 1964 till 1989 in Upper House of Indian Parliament. We believe your eminent support is based on Humanitarian and Justice.

Today, all the Tibetans are well aware about your genuine support and invaluable sympathy will always be counted in the history of Tibet. We take this opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to Your Excellency for your support for Tibet and also believe that unless the issue of Tibet is not solved, there will be no peace and tranquil relationship between India and China. Thus, for the interest of India’s security as well as for the peace in the South Asian region, we humbly request Your Excellency to raise the Tibet’s issue.

We also believe that in future you and your Government will continue to support for Tibet till Tibet’s issue is solved. As an oldest supporter of Tibet, we have complete conviction that Your Excellency will put in front the Tibet’s issue during your coming visit to China. We also humbly appeal to Your Excellency that during your visit to China, Your Excellency kindly raise the Human Rights and Tibet’s issue with Chinese officials, and hopefully come up with some positive result.

We remain indebted for your support and hope Your Excellency to continue to do so.

With regards,

Yours Sincerely,

Acharya Yeshi Phuntsok
President
National Democratic Party of Tibet
