Four Tibetans convicted of arms trafficking in a court in China’s western Qinghai province have been given long prison terms and suspended death sentences .

The convictions came after the four were arrested on a bus in June last year with 52 handguns and 97 bullets hidden in boxes of fruit.

They have been given sentences ranging from the death penalty with two years reprieve, to life imprisonment and 11 years in prison.

A death sentence with two year’s reprieve in China is normally commuted to life in prison.
