Rally held at Nepal Consulate and United Nations

The RTYC of New York and New Jersey, Student for a Free Tibet, Tibetan Women’s Association and USTC held a rally against the Nepalese Government’s decision on deporting 18 Tibetans to the Chinese Authority on Monday, June 2nd 2003. We had a turnout of about 200 participants who condenmed the deportation. The marchers then passed through the 43rd street and then shouted slogans right in front of the United Nations Building. Some shouted against the United Nations and Mr. Kofi Anan for not doing enough for Tibet and the Tibetans.

The heads of four Association in New York i.e. United Sherpa Association, Mustang Kyidug Association, Walung Association of North America and Manang Association unanimously signed and submitted a petition to H.E. Mr. Murari Raj Sharma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Nepal to the United Nations. Voicing their concern, they urged their own Government that this act be avoided in future.
