New Delhi, January 5 – A prayer meeting arranged by noted criminal lawyer and MP Ram Jethmalani for “hope, peace and goodwill in 2003” gave way to anger as he claimed that the supreme spiritual leader of Tibet, the Dalai Lama, had been “prevented” from attending the same.

Though one of the top spiritual leaders of Tibet, Tai Situ Rinpoche attended the meeting along with ambassadors of some countries, Jethmalani could not come to term with the disappointment caused to his invitees by the absence of the Dalai Lama at the function.

“I will deal in my own peculiar way with the person whose corrupt and foolish wisecrack is responsible for preventing His Holiness the Dalai Lama from attending the prayer meeting,” the noted lawyer said.

“We have not yet identified him, but be sure when we identify him, I will deal with him,” he added.

Jethmalani said the past year saw the threat of terrorism loom large over the country and the world, which suffered.

“To release the mood of desperation, even for a short time, we had sought the benign presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the prayer meeting. But even that has been prevented,” he added.
