His Holiness’ visit to Kerela cancelled

Dharamsala, December 28 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama was to wrap up his 2010 schedule with a visit to Varkala in Kerela where he was to inaugurate the 78th Teerthandana Sanyasi Sammelan on Thursday at the Sree Narayana Dharma Sanghom Trust, Sivagiri Mutt. However, the visit has been cancelled, His Holiness returned to Dharamsala yesterday.

On January 9, His Holiness will speak on the different levels of happiness at the 30th anniversary of Tushita Dharma Celebrations in New Delhi. His Holiness will also give teachings on Shantideva’s ‘A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life’ and Kamalashila’s ‘The Middling States of Meditation’ between January 12 and 16 in Sarnath.

In February, the Tibetan leader will visit the Mumbai University where His Holiness will talk to students on “Ancient Wisdom, Modern Thoughts”, director of the Board of College and University Development Dr Rajpal Hande said. “Our invitation to the Dalai Lama has been accepted and he will be coming here on February 18.” After the lecture, His Holiness will spend another hour interacting with students, university officials were quoted as saying. His Holiness will also meet academicians from different departments. More programmes are still being chalked out for the visit.

His Holiness’ visit to the university comes after high profile visit by the US first lady Michelle Obama in November.
