Diplomats of the Tibetan Government Meet

Dharamshala, September 20 – A two-day meeting of the representatives of the Dalai Lama began today at the premises of the exile Tibetan government here.

The meeting which was closed to the media is expected to discuss various administrative issues concerning the Representative Offices among other things.
According to the exile government’s official website, Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche said the eighth round of formal discussions between the envoys of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the representatives of the Chinese government will focus on the implementation of national regional autonomy in Tibet as enshrined in the constitution of the People’s Republic of China.

Kalon Tripa also underlined the need to maintain “a sense of urgency” in making efforts to resolve the issue of Tibet, which he said had received an unprecedented attention in countries across the world including China, the official website stated.

The Tibetan Prime Minister also said that the representatives should take special responsibility to collect opinions of Tibetans living under their respective jurisdictions for the ’emergency meeting’ in November.

The exile Tibetan government’s foreign missions are based in New Delhi, New York, Geneva, Tokyo, London, Canberra, Paris, Moscow, Pretoria, and Taipei.
The liaison office for Latin America, New York and EU coordination office, Brussels, are two offices, which function under the Office of Tibet, New York, and Bureau du Tibet, Paris, respectively.

Tenzin Phuntsok Atisha, the representative of the Dalai Lama in Australia is not attending the meeting due to illness.

The Task Force for Sino-Tibet Dialogue will meet for three days starting 22 September.
