New York March 17 – According to the latest information received from our source in Tibet, around 600 monks from Amchok Tsenyi Monastery staged a demonstration outside the local government office in Tsenyi (spelled as pronounced by our source), a small town in Ngaba County, Ngaba Tibet Autonomous prefecture.
Around a 100 monks from this monastery had already left their monastery to join the protest led by monks from Ngaba Kirti monastery earlier on March 16. The remaining monks of Amchok Tsenyi Monastery were trying to leave the town today but were stopped on the way by Chinese security forces.
The monks then staged protest demonstration in their own town in front of the local government office. The monks were calling for the return of the Dalai Lama, his long life and freedom for Tibet.
Our source said that he saw 2 injured monks, Tsonyi who was shot in the leg and Lobsang who was shot on the arm by the security forces.
Meanwhile, in another small town called Barkham in Ngaba Tibet Autonomous prefecture, students of a teachers’ training school were staging protest demonstration as Chinese security forces try to control them.
