A public discussion forum was held at Yongling school of Mcleod Ganj, earlier today, organized jointly by the National Democratic Party of Tibet and Phayul.com. This gathering was the fourth public discussion of its kind.

A talk was given for public by Lobsang Yeshi, Vice President of Tibetan Youth Congress, the largest Tibetan NGO committed for the complete restoration of Tibetan independence. The topic was “Current situation in China and Tibet’s actions” where he spoke greatly on the real power and weaknesses of China, educating on the status of Chinese power struggle on an international level. He also mentioned the importance of Tibetans always bearing in mind that this is not an anti-Chinese battle, since most Chinese within their own country are not free themselves. The communist regime continues to create narrow-minded lifestyle as well as causing unhappiness for their general people. If there is no freedom of speech, mind and power, then there will not be any true lasting happiness, which needs to be cultivated from the inside. Therefore, it is essential that Tibetans remember and take strength from the examples of the suffering of common Chinese people.

Intellectual Activism, where everyone contributes their means or mode of specialty and comes out to rise and continues to create sustaining pressure, is what is needed right now. He also stressed on the need to protest in Delhi, where Indian policymakers reside and when Indian politicians support Tibet’s cause, it should be marked that half of the freedom struggle is won.
TYC is currently working at educating various national Olympic committees about the human rights violence in Tibet, so less support is observed for the coming Olympic of 2008.

Two feature movies: Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress and Beijing Bicycle were scheduled to be shown at 6:30pm, following the talk, which marks the beginning of the three-day long film festival currently being held at Yongling School, Jogibara Road.
