DHARAMSHALA, October 29: Swiss based Tibetan singer, Karma Emchi, has done it again.
Within two days of uploading his latest song “Shapaley – Made in Tibet”, Emchi has got over 8000 hits on Youtube alone.
The video, which has gone viral, comes after his earlier rap offering ‘Shapaley’, a rhythmic story telling of the expatriate Tibetan community. The song got over 30,000 hits within its first few weeks and was later banned in Tibet by Chinese authorities.
Social networking sites have been abuzz with Emchi’s new song as Tibetans continue to share and comment on the soulful rendition of the singer’s message to Tibetans inside Tibet.
The song comes at a critical time, when ten Tibetans have self-immolated in Tibet since March this year, protesting China’s continued occupation of Tibet.
“We don’t know if you can hear us, but we hope you’ll receive this message,” sings Emchi.
“Although we are far away from you, our thoughts are with you. We bear in our hearts brotherly bond.”
Commenting on a social networking site a Tibetan writes, “Shapaley guy is back! This one will surely go viral like his previous video. I see Beijing ban in the horizon”.
“At this critical juncture of our lives, this song would uplift all of us especially our brothers and sisters in Tibet to fight, stand up as one, and fight for one common cause,” says another Tibetan in exile.
