Kathmandu, July 27 : His Eminence the Sakya Trizin Rinpoche granted a special audience to Tibetan mediapersons today at Sakya Trarig Monastery in Boudha, Kathmandu. He also granted audiences to general public and special guests of the Monastery. The head of Sakya Buddhist sect said the purpose of his visit this time in Nepal was to attend the inauguration ceremony of reincarnation of Trarig Rinpoche who was chosen couple of years ago but the inauguration had not been done until now.

His Eminence will also visit some monasteries in Kathmandu and in Pokhara in mid-west Nepal. There are some monasteries in remote Himalayan Regions of Nepal that follows Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Since these remote communities have lagged behind due to lack of facilities, Sakya Trizin have been trying his best to support them by sending monks and providing religious services.

When asked about his wish to visit Mustang region, a restricted area for foreigners in Nepal and also primarily an area that follows Sakyapa sect, he said “I don’t have any plan and I don’t have much time either, so this time it is only Kathmandu and briefly in Pokhara”. There are many Sakya monasteries in Mustang but the more important ones are in Kathmandu, three in Boudha area and some smaller ones.

Speaking about the present situation of relations between Tibetan religious institutions inside and outside Tibet, the spiritual head said, “in general, due to kindness of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tibetan Buddhist institutions have been set up in India, Nepal and foreign countries and Tibetan Buddhism have flourished, especially in Tibet. Unlike past, from every aspect, things like building temples, everything is improving, since the relationship between Tibetans inside and outside have been relaxed, we are able to make good contacts in Tibet”.
