Budapest , March 13 – More than 100 Tibet supporters held a peaceful demonstration outside the Chinese Embassy this Sunday to mark the 46th anniversary of Tibetan People’s Uprising Day of 1959. While the President of TSG hoisted the Tibetan National Flag, the resident Tibetans sang the national anthem. This was followed by a 2 minute silence as a tribute to the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Tibet.
All the supporters gathered this afternoon said the most important prayer ‘The Words of Truth‘ composed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama for restoration of peace, Buddhist teachings and culture and self-determination of the Tibetan people in their homeland.
Mr Sonam Tenzing, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama read the official 10th March Statement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Although no Chinese official was present to receive the letter submitted by the Tibet Support Association, the supporters shouted slogans such as “Free Tibet”, “Free Panchen Lama” , “Release Trulku Tenzin Delek”, “Long-live His Holiness the Dalai Lama” for more than 15 minutes.
Other important events, including a conference on Tibet, panel discussion attended by Chairman of Human Rights Committee of the Hungarian Parliament, discussion between Tibetans and Hungarians on situation of Tibet and Tibetans in-exile, films shows of Tibet, etc were organized successfully from Mach 10 to 14, 2005 by the Tibet Support Assocation of Hungary.
