In light of China’s execution of Lobsang Dhondup last month, and the torture and continued imprisonment of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, Tserang Dondrup and at least 5 other monks, the time has come to escalate our efforts to highlight the injustice the Tibetan people continue to suffer so long as China occupies Tibet.
SFT is developing several campaign strategies to turn up the heat on the Chinese Government, and we need your help. We will be organizing high profile public demonstrations, protests and actions against China’s occupation of Tibet on March 10, Tibetan National Uprising Day. In addition to the regular demonstrations that take place every year, Tibetans and supporters are planning to engage in nonviolent direct action to make this year’s commemoration of Tibetan Uprising Day an urgent and powerful call for Tibetan freedom.

PALDEN GYATSO TOUR DATES AVAILABLE
The Venerable Palden Gyatso, a Tibetan monk who spent 33 years in jail in Tibet for his opposition to the Chinese government, is now touring the US. He is available to speak at your school between March 21 and 24, between March 27 and 31st and between April 5 and 15th.
Palden Gyatso never gave up his determination to fight for his country’s freedom. In 1992, when he finally finished his last prison sentence, Palden Gyatso managed to escape to India, carrying with him some of torture instruments that had been used on him. Since his escape, he has traveled the world speaking to people about his horrendous experiences in jail and his continued mission to expose the injustice of the Chinese occupation of Tibet. He has testified in front of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights and the US Congress. Palden la is also the author of “The Autobiography of a Tibetan Monk” and “Fire Under the Snow: Testimony of a Tibetan Prisoner.”
