DHARAMSHALA, October 24: The spiritual head of Kalmyk Republic, Telo Rinpoche, has been appointed as the new Honorary Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Tibet Culture and Information Centre (Office of Tibet) in Moscow, Russia.
According to the announcement made in the official website of Tibetan government in exile (known officially as Central Tibetan Administration), Telo Rinpoche will succeed Dr. Ngawang Rabgyal.
Dr. Ngawang Rabgyal has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of Education.
Telo Rinpoche was born to a Kalmyk Mongolian family in the United States of America. He studied at Drepung Monastery in South India. In the early 1990s, he was recognized by the Dalai Lama as reincarnation of the spiritual leader of the Kalmyk people.
