DHARAMSALA, December 4 – Five members of the Tibetan cabinet are in South Tyrol, an autonomous province under Italy. The Tibetan ministers have been invited by the European Academy of Bolzano where they were received by Gunther Cologna, head of EURAC Education and a member of the Italian Tibet Support Group.
According to the official website of the exile Tibetan government, the Tibetan ministers will participate in various meetings about the provinces’ legal status within the political structure of the Italian Republic during their stay in South Tyrol and Trento.
The ministers are Pema Chhinjor (religion), Dolma Gyari (home), Diki Chhoyang (information and international relations), Tsering Dhondup (finance) and Tsering Wangchuk (health). Ngodup Dongchung (security) is not traveling with his colleagues due to family reasons.
The ministers will also call on President Luis Durnwalder of South Tyrol and President Ugo Rossi of Trento.
Early next week, the ministers will travel to Belgium, France, Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland and meet with the Tibetan communities in these countries.
