Dharamshala: The Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy began a three-day workshop on ‘United Nations and its Human Rights Systems’ at the new auditorium of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives. This workshop is organised in collaboration with Geneva for Human Rights – Global Training, and Tibet Bureau, Geneva.
Kesang Yangkyi Takla, the exile Tibetan government’s minister for Information and International Relations (DIIR) attended the opening session. The minister said such trainings are useful for the Tibetans and hoped that it will benefit many people.
Ardrian Claude Zoller, president of the Geneva for Human Rights – Global Training (GHR) is the primary resource person for the training. Zoller has been working as an advocate for human rights for several years and since 1985 has been involved with the campaign for Tibet. GHR is a training organization which supports human rights to empower human rights organisations throughout the world.
The training will go on till Thursday, 22 July.
Around 20 participants from the Tibetan government, Tibetan NGOs, Tibetan schools and college students from Chennai are in attendance.
