New Delhi, April 11 – The two young activists who protested at the Chinese Embsassy in Delhi on April 9, demanding the release of Tibetan spiritual leader Panchen Lama have been forcifully hospilised today after their health deteriorated.
Shibayan Raha and Migmar Tsering, the Indian and Tibetan activist duo have been taken to Central Jail Tihar on the day of arrest. For the past three days, the activist have not been eating any solid food or drinking any liquid.
Today, as they entered third day of their no-food, no-water hunger strike in jail, the Tihar Jail authorities forcibly took them to jail hospital. Concerned Tibetans and Indian-Tibet supporters, well wishers and friends of the activists who went to visit them at the prison couldn’t meet the activists. The activists’ lawyer Jayashree who went to the prison also had to come back without seeing them, and was told by jail authorities that the arrested protestors are under medical care.
Friends of Tibet remains deeply concerned about their health and is trying every possible means to secure their release with the help of RTYC Delhi, Indo-Tibetan Coordination Office and Human Rights Law Network. They are hospitalised in Tihar, Jail No’ 4. Delhi.
The spiritual leader Panchen Lama, has gone missing in China’s occupied Tibet since 1995. he is the second only to the Dalai lama as tibetan leader. He is turning 18 on the 25th April 2007 in Chinese custody.
