Prime Minister Ven. Samdong Rinpoche arrives in Italy

Venice, 14th December: The prime minister of Tibetan government in Exile accompained by his personal secretary arrived in the northeastern city of Venice in Italy this morning for his five days visit. The Prime minister was warmly recieved at the Airport by the representatives of various organising associations and the President of the Tibetan Community in Italy.

In the morning kalon tripa met with the Mayor of the City of Venice, Massimo Cacciari in the magnificient municipality hall. The Mayor expressed how the city is honoured for the visit of Kalon tripa and admired the unique and rich cultural heritage of Tibet. Kalon tripa thanked the city for their sympathy and support to Tibet’s cause and stressed that the Tibetan government in exile is undertaking a negotiation with the Chinese government to resolve the Tibet’s Problem through peaceful means though the process of the negotiation is quite slow. Both leaders exchanged soveniers after the meeting.

Later Kalon Tripa was recieved in the Regional council of the Regione Veneto and had very cordial meeting with the President of the regional council, Mario Finozzi and with the Vice President, Achille Variati. Kalon tripa in his words of thanks specified that the international pressure and support for the promotion of the negotiations with China in resolving Tibetan Issue is crucial. The Vice President Acchile acknowleged that much has to be done to improve the human rights in different part of the world and the right for the self determination is very crucial for a nation. Mr Achille Thanked Kalon tripa for his visit and expressed that the visit represents a symbol of hope of Peace to the city. In the following days Prime minister is due to visit province of Breganze, Trento and the city of Rome.
