Dalai Lama to visit Canada and US in September

New York, June 12 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama is scheduled to begin a three-week visit of North America on September 7, the day on which he will arrive in Vancouver, BC, Canada, and then proceed to the US cities of Los Angeles, Denver, Buffalo and New York.

In Vancouver, BC, His Holiness will engage in dialogue with Canadian high school students and education leaders on issues of altruism and intergenerational learning.

His Holiness will also interact with leading researchers in a dialogue on how happiness and contentment can contribute to mental and physical health.

On September 10, His Holiness will meet with corporate and civic leaders to discuss the possibility of symbiotic relations between the two sectors.

On the same day, he will give an audience to the Tibetan community.

On September 11, His Holiness will depart for Los Angeles to give a two-day teaching on Lamrim (A Graded Path to Enlightenment), followed by an initiation of The 16 Kadampa Mandalas (known in Tibetan as Kadam Thikle Chudruk).

His schedule in Los Angeles also includes an audience for the Tibetan community on September 11 and a public talk on September 13.

On September 15, His Holiness will fly to Denver, Colorado, to participate in a PeaceJam conference with 11 other Nobel Peace Laureates and 3,000 youth from around the world.

On September 16, he will give separate audiences to the Tibetan and Mongolian communities of Colorado.

On September 17, His Holiness will consecrate the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya at the Shambhala Mountain Center.

On the same day, he will give a public talk on “The Science of Compassionate Life”, organized by Mind and Life Institute.

On September 18, His Holiness will travel to Buffalo, NY, to give a public talk at the request of the University of Buffalo.

During his two-day stay at the university, His Holiness will also attend an interfaith service and inaugurate a Tibetan Law Conference, organized by the Law Department under Professor Rebecca French, who wrote a book on the Tibetan legal system and who now teaches at Buffalo University.

On September 20, His Holiness will travel to Woodstock, NY, and visit Menlha Mountain Retreat and Karma Triyana Dharmachakra.

On September 22, he will arrive in New York City to give a three-day teaching on The Blade Wheel of Mind Transformation (Lojong Tsonchai Khorlo) from September 23 to 25, during which he will also give a Tara initiation.

His Holiness will leave the US on September 26.
