TYC condemn the Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee’s recognition of Tibet Autonomous Region as part of the territory of the People’s Republic of China. Once again the Prime Minister of India chooses to obliterate Tibet and resorted to perfidious strategy.

Linking Sikkim with India’s reciprocal recognition of Tibet Autonomous Region as a part of China, has been Beijing’s preparation to satisfy domestic hard liners within the Communist party in one hand and to extract maximum concession from the Prime Minister of India in the garb of opening a new chapter in bilateral ties. Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee’s continued push for broader bilateral talks but Beijing’s usual policy of engagement, containment and deliberate postponement would result no achievement on the main issues. One more time we are witnessing Beijing’s successful ploy to make New Delhi accept China’s sovereignty over Tibet.

Tibetan Youth Congress reiterates the first Prime Minister of India in his address to Lok Sabha in 1950 said “It is not right for any country to talk about its sovereignty or suzerainty over an area outside its own immediate range… it should ultimately be the wishes of the people of Tibet that should prevail and not any legal or constitutional arguments”.

Tibetan Youth Congress is the largest and most active Tibetan organisation with more than 30,000 active members having 77 regionals all over the world. Unwavering commitment to struggle for independence of Tibet and Independent Tibet is the ultimate goal of this organisation.

Wishes of the people of Tibet and the voice of Tibetan people behind these wishes will eventually free Tibet.
