A six-day international conference will be held at the University of Calgary in a bid to inspire the public to take action on the plight of Tibet’s people.

Educate, Inspire, Act: A Conference on Tibet will be hosted by the U of C’s Students for a Free Tibet from March 4 to 10, the anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan uprising.

Speakers will include T.C. Tethong, former cabinet minister in the Dalai Lama’s government in exile and Freya Putt from the Students for a Free Tibet headquarters in New York.

Stephanie Garrett, executive director of the U of C’s club, said the group aims to educate young people about the realities of Tibet and work on translating that awareness into action through non-violent political, economic and social campaigns.
