DHARAMSHALA, Jan. 30: The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Estonia on Friday voiced strong opposition to the President of the exile Tibetan government Penpa Tsering, for his visit to the Estonian Parliament. The Chinese embassy there in a statement labelled the Tibetan government-in-exile as a ‘separatist political group’ and an ‘illegal organisation’.
“China urges the relevant Estonian parties to respect China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, not to meddle in China’s internal affairs under the pretext of Tibet-related issues, and prevent disruption to the healthy development of China-Estonia relations. China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity,” the Chinese Embassy in Estonia said in a statement.
President Tsering visited the Estonian Parliament, where he participated in a hearing on the ‘Legal Status of Tibet.’ Chaired by MP Juku-Kalle Raid, Chair of the Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet and a member of the Foreign Affairs Commission, the hearing drew the participation of about 35 parliamentarians, journalists, academics, and Tibetan supporters. During the session, the Sikyong (President) spoke on the CTA’s official stance, the Middle-Way Approach, and the importance of correcting historical facts regarding Tibet’s independence before the People’s Republic of China’s illegal occupation.
During the hearing at the Estonian Parliament, Professor Hon-Shiang Lau and Dr. Michael C. van Walt van Praag presented evidence challenging China’s historical claim over Tibet. Professor Lau provided evidence from Chinese Imperial records, specifically from the Ming and Qing dynasties, indicating that Tibet was not recorded as part of China. Dr. van Walt van Praag further strengthened this argument from a legal perspective, shedding light on China’s attempts to legitimise its occupation of Tibet and how such claims breach international law.
Representative Sonam Frasi from the Office of Tibet in London consolidated the discussion further. Drawing reference from Tibet’s historical and legendary records, Frasi emphasised the colonialist nature of the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) rule in Tibet. He concluded that restoring peace to Tibet and finding a resolution to the peaceful Tibetan freedom movement would enhance global faith in peace and non-violent.
After the hearing, former Prime Minister of Estonia, Mart Laar, sent a message of support to the Tibetan cause. The hearing marked the beginning of his official visits to the Baltic states, Finland, the UK, and Belgium for Tibetan advocacy.

It is heartening that there was an hearing on the “Legal status of Tibet” at the Estonian parliament. TIBET IS AN INDEPENDENT NATION IN INTERNATIONAL LAW according to Dutch international Lawyer Michael Van Walt Prag! There is nothing new in the Chinese communist ambassador’s bad mouthing of the visit by the Tibetan Leader and the conference on the status of Tibet. A thief becomes highly animated and agitated when it feels threatened of being exposed of its crime! The Chinese communist regime stole Tibet through deception and military conquest! There is every reason for the CCP to be very concerned about losing its grip over its ill-gotten treasure like all thieves! However, no matter how much it tries to hide its crime and by whatever means, truth can’t be erased! History is witness to Tibetan independence from the time of Tibet’s inception in 127 BC till 1949/50 when Tibet was forcibly and illegally occupied by communist China. The Dalai Lama has said in his 1988 Strasbourg Declaration: “OUR HISTORY DATING BACK MORE THAN TWO THOUSAND YEARS, HAS BEEN OF INDEPENDENCE. AT NO TIME SINCE THE FOUNDING OF OUR NATION IN 127 BC HAVE WE TIBETANS CONCEDED OUR SOVEREIGNTY TO A FOREIGN POWER”. These are the words of Tibet’s sovereign leader the 14th Dalai Lama! Communist China has forced other nations to “recognise” its illegal occupation of Tibet by inserting Tibet into the antiquated so called “one China” policy. Tibet has nothing to do with “one China” debate. The Chinese civil war divided China into communist occupied China and Kuomintang occupied Taiwan which it called itself Republic of China! The KMT, having been the legitimate rulers of China claimed the whole of China and insisted itself to be the legitimate representative of China while, the new occupiers of China called themselves People’s Republic of China and claimed itself as the legitimate representative of China. In 1992 consensus, the Governing KMT and communist China came to an agreement that there is only “ONE CHINA” represented by ROC and PRC but they can interpret it in their own waysides . Tibet has absolutely no claim to PRC or ROC and has therefore nothing to do with one “China” dispute. As it were, it was sheer duplicitous of the CCP to insert Tibet into “one China” equation when Tibet has nothing to do with the dispute between the two chinas at all! All countries should take NOTICE of this CCP duplicity and reject the inclusion of Tibet in the “one China” dispute. As it turned out since 2014, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has rejected the so called “one China” consensus. Tibet and China were two nations who fought for two years until an amicable solution came into being in 822 AD when Tibetan emperor Tri Ralpachen and Tang emperor Muzang singed a Peace Treaty. The contents of the agreement were inscribed on stone pillars and installed in the Chinese capital, Sino-Tibet border and the Tibetan capital Lhasa. The stone pillar in Lhasa stands to this day which is a measure of Tibet’s stability through out its long history unlike China which has been wrecked by wars, famine and insurrections against their devious, tyrannical, diabolical, murderous and expansionist leaders!
Tibet was an oasis of tranquility in Central Asia until the evil CCP illegally invaded and brutally occupied Tibet! Ever since the Chinese occupation, occupied Tibet has been wrecked by rebellion and protests by the victims of occupation and the occupier’s repression, oppression, mass murder and genocide! THIS IS THE DIRECT RESULT OF CHINESE OCCUPATION JUST LIKE ALL THE MAYHEM, WARS AND GENOCIDE IN GAZA AND WEST BANK ARE THE DIRECT RESULT OF ISRAELI OCCUPATION. THEREFORE THE ROOT CAUSE OF ALL THE ILLS IN OCCUPIED TIBET IS THE COLONIAL OCCUPATION THAT IS ENSLAVING THE TIBETANS. Estonia and other Baltic nations have been under Soviet occupation and they are fully aware of the Tibetan situation and CCP occupation. They are therefore genuinely sympathetic to the Tibetan cause.
The CCP calls the Free Tibet Movement “separatist” and the legitimate Tibetan Government “illegal”!!! This is the pot calling the kettle black! First, TIBET WAS NEVER PART OF CHINA AT ANY TIME IN ITS TWO THOUSAND HISTORY AND IT IS CHRONICLED VIVIDLY BY SCHOLARS OF ALL AGES AND ESPECIALLY IN RECENT TIMES BY Professor Lui Hanchen in his book: “TIBET WAS NEVER PART OF CHINA” AND “HIDDEN TIBET- HISTORY OF INDEPENDENCE AND OCCUPATION” By Russian author Professor SL Kuzmin. Since Tibet was NEVER PART OF CHINA, the accusation of separatism is preposterous!
The CCP is an illegal usurper of power in China. It is EXACTLY LIKE THE TALIBAN OF AFGHANISTAN. Just as the Taliban is a ragtag of Islamic fanatics who are backward, the CCP are communist bandits who usurped power without the mandate from the Chinese people! Just as millions of Afghans were plunged in darkness under the Taliban, millions of Chinese were plunged into death camps by the most vicious and violent outfit in history who is responsible for the death of 80 million Chinese, Tibetans, East Turkic people, Manchurians and Mongols. Their mad leader, Mao is the most prolific murderer in the history of mankind! So, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others. This is an advice to the loud mouthed CCP man in Estonia!!!
