DHARAMSHALA, Dec. 25: The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts cultural troupe yesterday returned to Dharamshala after a successful first official cultural trip to South Korea.
The cultural troupe left for South Korea on Dec. 15 and reached Yeosu city via Seoul on 17 December. The artistes of TIPA made two separate cultural performances on the trip, the first one on 19 December at the consecration ceremony of a Buddhist temple in the city. The rituals for the consecration were performed by the official medium of Nechung oracle, Ven. Thubten Ngodup.
The second performance of the Tibetan troupe was held in attendance of Mr. Chul Hyeon Ju, the chief minister of the province and Ven Jenok Sunim, head of the Korean Buddhist Association at the Yeosu International hall.
The prestigious Yeosu International hall was attended by local Korean mass, music lovers as well as other local and state dignitaries.
Mr. Pesur Wangdu, Director of TIPA, preceded the performances with a speech on the Tibet issue Tibetans culture and TIPA’s responsibility to preserve the unique and rich customs of Tibetan music and dance. He later presented a memento to Mr. Chul Hyeon Ju, the minister of the province.
The spectators according to the Central Tibetan Administration website, were expressive of “their heartfelt appreciation at the rich display of Tibetan culture and reaffirmed the importance of preserving one’s unique culture and tradition.”
