Today marks exact one month since the Chinese government brutally attacked on the peaceful Tibetan demonstrators. In spite of China’s brutal crackdown in Tibet, the peaceful demonstrations continue to occur, whether it is outwardly visible or invisible. Tibetan Solidarity Committee, on behalf of all the Tibetans, pay our deep fond respect and show our solidarity for all our brave and patriotic Tibetan brothers and sisters who have sacrificed their lives for Tibet and those who continue to undergo tremendous suffering under the present situation.
We the Tibetans living in free countries have been on hunger strikes, protesting and rallying, praying, and various other activities to bring an immediate awareness to the current crisis in Tibet and to quickly find a peaceful solution to resolve the issue of Tibet.
Yesterday prior to the visit of the Chinese state-run press and journalists in Tibet, a group of Chinese cadres disguised (pretending to be journalists) interviewed local Tibetans. During the interview, the disguised Chinese reporters wanted to test whether anyone would speak out against the stance of the PRC policies. When Tibetans did object to the PRC’s policies, they were arrested and taken away. From this incident, we can surmise that similar incidents have taken place in other parts of the Tibetan area.
According to reliable information, few days ago in Rutok District of Ngari Area, four to five young Tibetan boys protested against the Chinese Government. They demanded the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet and an immediate end to the brutal suppression of Tibetans in Tibet. We received information that these Tibetan protestors were severely beaten and arrest, later detained in Sen-gay town, the site for the main governmental offices of Ngari Prefecture. However, further details are not available at the moment.
Following up on the Tongkhor monastery incident, the Chinese armies have warned the Tibetans who have fled to the mountains in order to escape China’s brutality that if they don’t return in a given time issued by the armies, they will face severe consequences. Tibetans who have suffered injuries are living with a fear if they seek medical attention at Chinese hospitals, they will be captured and arrested. Therefore, injured Tibetans are not receiving medical help. We are extremely concern of all the Tibetans who are under extreme misery and languishing.
In view of the present crisis in Tibet, we urgently appeal to the UN and the International community to:
1. Immediately dispatch independent fact finding delegations to Tibet
2. Immediately allow free press to cover the whole of Tibet
3. Immediately end the brutal killings in the whole of Tibet
4. Immediately release all arrested and imprisoned Tibetans
5. Extend immediate medical assistance to the injured Tibetans
6. Allow free movement of people and provide access to daily needs
