RTYC Chandigarh burns the effigy of Chinese Premier “Hu Jintao” on 48th National Uprising Day of Tibet

To mark the 48th Tibetan national uprising day, activists of Regional Tibetan Youth Congress Chandigarh, today organized a protest rally. The rally started from Punjab university campus and passed from the markets of sector 15, 16, 17 and 22 before concluding at the plaza in sector 17. Over 70 Tibetan students from various colleges and institution in CHANDIGARH took part in the protest.

RTYC activist burnt the effigy of the Chinese premier, Hu Jintao, and also put the flame the national flag of the People’s Republic of China. All the protesting member had tied the Chinese national flag to their legs as a mark of protest. The activities were condemning the activities of the Chinese government in Tibet and the brutal repressed of Human right of the Tibetan people inside Tibet.

Tenzing Norsang Paman Serkhang, President of Regional Tibetan Youth Congress CHANDIGARH read out the statement of 48th national uprising day of Tibet and pledged that the Youth of Tibet is ever ready to sacrifice their lives for Tibet. The activities expressed their strong resentment toward the Chinese Government when Hu Jintao effigy was being burnt by the president. They also stomped the burning Chinese flag and shouted slogans calling for the freedom of Tibet and a stop to all human right violations in occupied Tibet.

The chief guest on the occasion was the advocate president of Punjab and himachal Pradesh Mr. Arvind Thakur and he expressed his support for the cause of a free Tibet. He said, Being the followers of His Holiness of Dalai Lama, Tibetan have been following the path of non-violence till now. Tibet has a strong potential in the form of young generation and it is not impossible that they can’t follow the path of violence. But being Buddhist they believe in non-violence and this is commendable.

The protest rally ended with observing a minute’s silence in the memory of all those brave man and women of Tibet who have sacrificed their lives during the Tibetan freedom struggle. Tibetan and Indian national anthem with a patronic song and pray “WE SHALL OVER COME AND TIBET WILL FREE SOON” were sung in the end.
