In solidarity with fellow Tibetans and friends of Tibet all over the world commemorating the 10th of March, on behalf of the 6 million Tibetans in Tibet, and inspired by and in support of the spirit of the global effort by Students For a Free Tibet to make 2007 the biggest March 10 observation since 1959, the Tibetan community in Australia’s capital city, Canberra, protested in front of the Chinese Embassy.

Young Tibetans were up until early morning on March 10 ensuring that the ‘We will never give up’ banner and SFT Rangzen Fist placards (reminding the Chinese of the unity of the cause of Tibetans and friends all over the world) were ready for the officials within the embassy to see at the protest. Following an introductory speech by the Community President, and readings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 10 March Statement, the community members sang the uprising song and ceaselessly shouted slogans demanding a Free Tibet, Free the Panchen Lama and reminding the Chinese and the world that Tibet Belongs to Tibetans. Although quite small in numbers, their passion for the cause of their nation and nationality were clear to all as young Tibetans one after the other lead the shouts with loud voices strained with fervor. It was clear that the younger generation were rising to take up the flame of our just struggle from their parents and that this flame would last until the Tibetan cause is justly resolved however long it may take. It was clear, just as the large banner that they held read, that ‘We will never give up’.
