Dharamshala, March 23 – “What more can we do for the Tibetan cause? “A 12-member delegation of provincial parliamentarians from an autonomous region of Italy asked His Holiness the Dalai Lama during an hour-long audience this morning.

“There are two ways of doing that,” said Dr. Veronika Stirner Brantsch, the president of the Provincial Legislative Council of South Tyrol, who is leading the delegation comprising legislatures, NGOs and others.

“We can help either by financing the exile Tibetan projects to assure the continuity of Tibetan identity, or by mobilising support from our peers across the globe for Tibet,” said Dr. Brantsch in a press conference this afternoon.

The regional parliament of the autonomous Terentino-South Tyrol passed last March a motion in favour of Tibet, urging the Office of Presidency and the Regional Government to support the initiatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the administration of Tibetan exiles.

Addressing the media, Parliamentarian Georg Pardeller said, “It is hard for an election-year politician to launch sustained political campaigns as they have to change with the changes brought by casting of ballots.”

“However, as Madam President is very young, she has many more elections to win. Rest assured, she will keep the flame of Tibetan cause burning for a long, long time,” he added.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has already visited South Tyrol twice. Last year, some members of the Assembly of the Tibetan People’s Deputies also visited South Tyrol.
